Here in Manhattan our flower market is luxurious with fall materials. An array of flowers in rich colors, berries, colorful leaves, pods, grasses, pumpkins of all sizes, gourds of all shapes and colors, Indian corn like jewels among other wonderful products of Mother Nature. At this point we begin to look toward the winter season. Evergreens and other winter greens begin to come in along with scarlet alder and winter berry branches. Amaryllis in many varieties and colors make beautiful bouquets, dramatic centerpieces and are simply stunning in a simple glass cylinder vase. Tulips, notably from Holland, are appearing in the market. Yes, you may have tulips for your winter wedding or party—also hyacinths and narcissus. And of course we have our usual lovely flowers such as roses, lilies, mini callas and so on. Orchids also are with us winter long. So even if he weather outside is frightful your event will still be delightful.
